Une Annonce
French President, Nicolas Sarkozy, recently announced that people under 25 and/or teachers will have free admission to all public museums and monuments, such as the Louvre etc. This is an amazing idea to encourage interest in the arts and would be great if other countries would follow suit. The only sad part is that I probably won't make it to France before my next (25th) birthday.

Happy Go Lucky
I was thrilled (actually screamed) when Sally Hawkins took home a Golden Globe for the film Happy Go Lucky. I loved her in the Masterpiece Classic version of Persuasion and cannot wait to see her in this new film, released on dvd March 10th.

Oh That Jane!
I am a Jane Austen fan, utterly and completely. Pride and Prejudice has to be one of the greatest love stories ever and the movies etc. that have been inspired by this novel are some I love to watch.
So, imagine my delight when I come across the mini-series Lost In Austen on the Ovation Channel. It is so good ... a modern day girl (Amanda Price) accidently switches places with heroine Elizabeth Bennet as love and humor ensue.
Below is a clip with a funny little scene I'm sure every female Austen fan dreams of having, especially if you have ever seen the movie version featuring Colin Firth.
*FYI* All 4 episodes of Lost in Austen will be playing this Sunday, January 18th on the Ovation Channel starting @ 12pm then again @ 4pm

Slumdog Millionaire
I keep hearing about this movie and how good a film it really is ... so I will be adding it to my list of ones to watch this year.
Masterpiece
I absolutely love Masterpiece Classic programing and it has become a ritual for me to curl up on Sunday evenings to watch the latest adaptation of some great period drama. You can find the entire schedule for this season here and be sure to check your local listings for your PBS station.
Tonight, I'll be watching the conclusion of Tess of the d'Urbervilles.

Calendar
One of my favorite things about the new year is choosing a calendar ... this year I chose one featuring photos from Paris and this one featuring a beautiful bird theme.
The calendar is FREE and the pdf will arrive via e-mail, then you simply choose the version for American printers and print out on white cardstock for a stunning calendar to last the entire year.
